The goal of SLC Kids is to reach and equip the next generation with the good news about God’s unconditional love. Because this is such a high value for us, we work hard to make sure kids LOVE coming to church! Your kids will dance, sing, laugh, and learn about Jesus in new ways each Sunday. Exciting activities are led by background-checked volunteers who are passionate about kids. SLC Kids meets at 10:30am while you attend the adult service, which means kids get to experience God in a way that is geared just for them!

Kristy’s Story

Kristy Hernandez is originally from a small town in Southern California and relocated to Utah in 2011.  She met her wonderful husband Daryl in high school and the couple married in 2006. Kristy and Daryl have 2 beautiful children - Alexandra (18) and Ryan (16). 

Kristy and Daryl began attending Salt + Light Church when their daughter Alexandra was a pre-teen and expressed a desire for wanting more out of her church youth experience. Because of that, Kristy and Daryl began searching for a new church to call home. With the recommendation of a good friend who attended Salt + Light, God opened the door for the Hernandez family to make Salt + Light their new church home. Shortly after, Daryl and Kristy began actively serving on the Welcome Team, while Alexandra and Ryan served in Kid’s Ministry.  This led them to become deeply connected with their new church family. Kristy now serves as the Kid’s Ministry Director, joined by Daryl, Alexandra, and Ryan, who continue to serve the kids of our church alongside her. 

Kristy has worked in the field of education as an elementary school teacher for over 20 years and she is so grateful for the opportunity to now use her spiritual gift of teaching to serve families at Salt + Light Church. Kristy has a passion for working with children, and she loves encouraging parents and children as they discover just how much Jesus loves them!
